Ginger and Spice Festival, Market Drayton, Shropshire

The annual community and family focused September festival celebrates the culinary heritage and history of Market Drayton – famous for an acclaimed local gingerbread. The festival is dedicated to all things ginger and spice will take place for the 7th year on 30th September.

Spicy Artisan Market

When: Saturday 30th September 2023, 9.30am to 4.30pm

Where: Cheshire Street in Market Drayton and the Shropshire Union Canal

Visitors can enjoy a FREE OF CHARGE vibrant spicy artisan market including everything from hand iced gingerbread, boozy ginger cakes, chai fudge and cinnamon ice-cream to ginger ales, aromatic gins and hot spicy street food. There will be the James Du Pavey Food Theatre located under the historic stone portico Buttercross with regional, top and local chefs including chef Liam James Tinsley from the Buttercorss Bistro. Other events include a Floating Market on the tow path of the Shropshire Union Canal with crafts and delicious food. The Fodder and Tipple Trail (ticketed) with tasty stop offs including beer sampling. Activities for children including the Original Biscuit Baker’s Heritage Town Gingerbread Trial, gingerbread crafts and gingerbead decorating.

 

Saturday 30th and Sun 1st Oct – Floating Market on the Shropshire Union Canal, TF9 1HH, 10am to 5pm

Thursday 28th September – A Taste of Autumn at Goldstone Hall Hotel & Gardens, TF9 2NA, 11.30am to 3pm – ticketed

Friday 29th September – Celidih with the Tern Valley Tinkers, Adderley Parish Hall, 7pm to 11pm – ticketed

The multi award-winning festival is kindly supported by Market Drayton Town Council and takes place during, British Food Fortnight, a national celebration of all that is local and seasonal during the traditional harvest time. Shropshire Live are this year’s Media Partner.
