Alternative Shropshire accommodation: make more memories

Shropshire has hotels, B&Bs, camping and self-catering options aplenty. Sometimes, though, a special trip to Shropshire calls for something different. Fortunately we have plenty of alternative accommodation options to welcome you and your travel companions, whatever your plans. Glamping options in Shropshire include camping pods and shepherds’ huts. Staying in a custom-made pod or beautifully refurbished shepherd’s hut is a great way to get closer to nature without making the commitment to full-on camping. Ever wanted that feeling of being on a safari? You can in safari tent! Just imagine: you, your loved ones, and the stars above you. Yurts in Shropshire also make for cosy glamping experiences. You can sleep in beds with proper linen and, often, make use of toasty wood-burners and basic cooking facilities. Alternative accommodation in Shropshire doesn’t mean slumming it. Or how about a Shropshire holiday on the water? Take the Shropshire Union Canal through the pretty locks at Tyrley, or navigate the lift bridges and staircase locks of the Llangollen Canal in a beautifully appointed narrowboat. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart embraced that alternative accommodation option one summer. Years later Ford reflected on his holiday in an interview with a national newspaper. ‘You can see the English countryside in a way you can’t when you’re speeding down the M1’, he said. Wherever you choose to stay, Shropshire will welcome you. When are you checking in?

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
