PEN-Y-DYFFRYN HOTEL

Pen-y-Dyffryn Hotel offers relaxing and high quality hotel short breaks. That’s all we do – no weddings, conferences or anything else to distract you. The hotel’s countryside setting and soothing ambience guarantee that elusive “away from it all” feeling. Great food, (Two AA Rosettes), luxurious bedrooms and personal service are a given. For that extra touch of pampering reserve a bedroom with a Double Spa Bath, or one with a private patio.

The Hunter family have owned this peaceful hotel in Shropshire for two generations, so friendliness and personal guest service is in our blood. Unspoilt countryside, high quality food and wine, plump sofas, and well equipped bedrooms set the scene for an unforgettable country break. “A place where stress melts away as soon as you cross the threshold”. (Sunday Telegraph).

Long established in all the best hotel guides, the hotel has won many awards. Well described by Bestloved Hotels as “a superb retreat from the stress and bustle of everyday life. The ideal place to clear the mind, fill the lungs with clear country air and recharge the batteries.” Pen-y-Dyffryn was chosen as “Country Hotel of the Year” by The Good Hotel Guide, and also awarded their  “Best Walking Hotel” and “Rooms with a View Hotel” awards. Sawdays Special Places gave us their “Favourite Hotel Award”.

There is so much to see and do near Pen-y-Dyffryn Hotel. We have superb hill walking right from the front door. There are four National Trust properties nearby, including Powis Castle, Chirk Castle, Attingham and Erdigg. Also close by is Llangollen Aqueduct, Lake Vyrnwy and The Ironbridge Gorge. If shopping is your preference, just a short drive away are Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Chester. Pets are welcome.

The star of the piece, however, is the hotel’s peaceful situation, with unspoilt views in all directions, promising some of the finest sunsets in the land. Sundowners are a must!

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
