Bursting with some of the liveliest, most entertaining performances from local, national and international touring artists, there’s always something special to appeal to culture vultures of all ages at the Ludlow Fringe Festival. Taking place annually in the beautiful, medieval, market town of Ludlow in South Shropshire, it has grown to become one of the biggest regional arts festivals, attracting around 1,000 participants and audiences of around 12,000 at its FREE and ticketed events of all genres.
With more than 100 events, across 40 venues, over 16 days – you will be guaranteed to find an event that will blow your mind. Whether you enjoy music, comedy, theatre, film, cabaret, poetry, dance, visual art, workshops, talks, kid’s activities or story-telling – there is always a jam-packed schedule brimming with amazing talent to inspire and excite the senses.
Fringe favourites include the annual production of Shakespeare in the Castle where Ludlow castle’s medieval walls provide an atmospheric backdrop to one of the Bard’s plays, or enjoy live, passion infused, Flamenco guitar and dance in the street with tapas and sangria. Visual artists get some great opportunities for showing off their talents with the Ludlow Fringe Art Trail where dozens of artists exhibit and sell their work from lots of fascinating pop-up galleries and the Artist’s Market.
If Comedy is your thing then Ludlow Fringe really is the place to be. From stand up, mad-cap magical escapades to funny theatre – comedy has always been a cornerstone of this lively festival. With around 35 comedy shows every year there is always some rib-tickling laughs on the agenda and the festival has played host to some very well-known names including Jo Brand, Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Gary Delaney, Mark Thomas, Lou Sanders and many more comedy circuit regulars alongside some of the best up and coming new faces.
Children and Young People get to have a great time at Ludlow Fringe Festival too, with a great programme of musical, literary, dance and visual arts activities and some fabulous opportunities to take part in Artist led workshops for learning new skills and for becoming part of the festival programme
Although, this year we will be presenting an on-line/digital festival of some great performances from national and international touring favourites, live streamed to your home, we will be back to take over the streets again next summer.
