Rural Shropshire comes into its own in autumn and one of its most seasonal must-sees is Attingham Park: This vast 18th-century estate includes acres of beautiful parkland ablaze with autumn colours. Spot the pumpkins in the walled kitchen gardens then wander onto the heritage -variety apple orchard (there are 37 types) before exploring the 200 acres parklands – including the deer park where the resident fallow deer, rut, bellow and feast on acorns and conkers. Seasonal family fun includes a Tree-mendous Trail for young nature explorers, and Woollen Woods where families can spot knitted creatures amid the trees.
