This half term we are exploring the themes of fabric and thread in a series of free drop-in activities. Discover more about the history of this former thread manufactory. A fun-filled week for all of the family!
Free drop-in activities, Monday to Friday 11.00am to 12.30pm and 1.00pm to 3.00pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No need to book for drop-in activities.
- Monday 12 February – Printmaking Buildings – use the grandparent of the modern skyscraper as inspiration to create your own buildings or factory-scape prints and patterns onto fabric using stampers and fabric paints!
- Tuesday 13 February – Mini Loom Weaving – Experiment with different wools, threads, and fabrics to weave your own piece of fabric to take home. Plastic needles are used for weaving. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

- Thursday 15 February – Spool Cars – Wind them up and watch them go! When the Shrewsbury Flaxmill made thread, it was wound on to a spool or reel, the used spools have been made into toys for hundreds years – learn the ingenious and fun ways the spools can be repurposed.
