Join us on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 September for a very special event exploring the beautiful and fascinating history of fashion from 1750-1970, through displays and a fashion show.
Our Costume Project has been producing bespoke costumes for museums and heritage organisations since 2004. The team create traditional costumes using historic sources, original patterns and archive research using contemporary materials and methods which can withstand modern-day life. The team works closely with clients to meet their individual requirements and deliver an engaging, authentic, fun interpretation experience.
At this evening event in the Engine Shop at Coalbrookdale, be transported back in time to explore fashion through the ages. Explore original costumes and the learn about the engineering of fashion through to the 1970s!
We are working with Telford College arts students to design an outfit inspired by, or based on, clothing from 1750-1900. The winning student’s design will be brought to life by the Costume Project and the student’s piece which will feature in the fashion show!
The fashion show is curated by Alison Phillips, Senior Costume Interpreter at the Trust, and will feature a history of the garments spoken alongside the catwalk.
A pay bar will be available. Doors open at 6pm and the fashion show will start at 7pm. The event will finish at 9pm.
