Join us for our FREE monthly community walk—this time we’re off to Nesscliffe Hill Country Park, a woodland wonderland steeped in Shropshire legend. Expect peaceful trails, sweeping views, and a cave with a rebellious backstory. This walk is perfect if you’re new to hiking, fancy a gentle weekend leg-stretch, or just want to meet lovely people and enjoy a bit of fresh air before brunch. And yep—it’s totally free! You just need to sign up so we know you’re coming.
We’ll ramble through mixed woodland and heathland, with a few gentle ups and downs and around 80m of total ascent—just enough to earn your elevenses. On our wander, we’ll visit Kynaston’s Cave, the hideout of one of Shropshire’s most notorious (and slightly glamorised) criminals—Humphrey Kynaston, aka the 16th-century Robin Hood wannabe. Booted out of high society after murdering a man (as you do), he holed up in a cave and allegedly spent his days robbing the rich and giving to the poor.
From the summit of Nesscliffe Hill, we’ll be treated to spectacular views across the Shropshire countryside and into Wales. It’s a fab spot to pause, reflect, or just show off your snack game.
