Join us on Monday, 5th May 2025, for a stunning Bluebell Walk over The Ercall and The Wrekin—two of Shropshire’s most iconic hills. This intermediate-level adventure is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the beauty of spring, with carpets of bluebells, birdsong, and breathtaking views over the county.
This 10.5 km (6.5 miles) circular route offers a mix of fascinating geology, ancient history, and vibrant spring landscapes. We’ll start with The Ercall, a hidden gem that bursts into life in spring. While it may be the Wrekin’s little sister, it has its own grandeur, with a dramatic quarry exposing 500-million-year-old rock formations. The woods here are truly magical in May, awash with bluebells and alive with the calls of birds returning from Africa. From here, we’ll continue up to The Wrekin, one of Shropshire’s most beloved peaks, where we’ll celebrate our climb at the Wrekin trig point, taking in the incredible panoramic views before making a steep descent back to our starting point.
