The Long Mynd Circular Group Hike

Route Highlights

  • Carding Mill Valley – Follow the stony track alongside the stream, a peaceful start to the hike.

  • Lightspout Hollow & Waterfall – Venture into a narrow, steep-sided valley leading to Lightspout Waterfall. Scramble up alongside the waterfall for a fun challenge, or take the main path for a gentler ascent.

  • Pole Bank Summit – Enjoy breathtaking views from the highest point of Long Mynd at 517m, overlooking the Shropshire Hills and the valleys of Wales.

  • The Burway – Descend the iconic hill with its sweeping panoramas, heading back towards Carding Mill Valley.

Optional: Join us for a drink or lunch at a local pub after the hike for a chance to socialise!

  • Date: Saturday 4th January 2025

  • Time: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm (Approx. 4 hours)

  • Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)

  • Ascent: 290 m

  • Difficulty Level: Intermediate

  • Terrain: Grassy and muddy hills, with some steep rocky sections for scrambling. Some paths have exposed drops to one side
