Old Hand and Diamond

A family-run 17th-century border inn that has provided refreshments and accommodation for travellers for hundreds of years. Situated in beautiful open countryside on the Powys/Shropshire border, The Old Hand & Diamond makes an excellent central base to visit all the delights of Shropshire’s county town, Shrewsbury 9 miles away and the rural hilly landscape of Powys, leading to the coast and Snowdonia. With local footpaths following the Owain Glyndwr Way and the Shropshire Way. A walk upto Rodneys Pillar will give a spectacular view over the Shropshire plains.

Our bar and restaurant menu is available daily from Monday to Thursday from 12.00pm to 2.00pm and 5.30pm to 8.30pm, we do an early bird menu 5.30pm till 7.30pm with main courses at £7.95 each. Friday and Saturday we serve all day and Sunday is our popular Carvery from 12 until 5.30 and evening menu until 8pm. The extensive menu is changed regularly but includes all the traditional favourites.

We have six en-suite bedrooms, decorated in a traditional country style with exposed beams and rustic features. All rooms are located on the first or second floors and are centrally heated with double glazing. They all have colour televisions and tea/coffee making facilities.

There are a great selection of rooms with double/king size beds and also family-sized rooms that can cater for up to five persons. Also available for the use of our guests are hairdryers, ironing boards, shoe cleaning kits and travel cots, all of which are free of charge.

Dogs are most welcome in rooms and bar at no extra charge.

We also offer Morgan Car experiences – Hire a classic Morgan car for a half or full day or make a break of it and stay the night and get a Hamper included.
