Shropshire festivals and Events: celebrate with us

All year round you’ll find Shropshire festivals celebrating things that make our county special – from apples to cider to coracles and comics and on through the alphabet to walking festivals. We even have a late-summer festival that fills the sky with hot air balloons: Oswestry Balloon Carnival is a sight to behold. Shropshire is home to the country’s first food festival. Ludlow Food Festival. Now it’s world famous and many of Shropshire’s towns have followed with their own versions. In mid-August, Quarry Park in Shrewsbury blooms with the equally revered Shrewsbury Flower Show. Two days of music, food and dazzling floral displays each culminate in a fireworks finale, followed at the end of August by one of the world’s best folk festivals. Ensuring adults don’t steal all the fun, Shropshire Kids Fest in the spring brings two days of (meticulously organised) mayhem. Some Shropshire festivals are rooted in folklore. On May Day people gather in Clun to watch the Green Man battle the Ice Queen on the packhorse bridge. Which Shropshire festival will you visit this year?

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
