Goldstone Hall Hotel and Gardens

Goldstone Hall Country House Hotel is set in five-acre grounds overlooking the tree-strewn, patchwork fields of the north Shropshire countryside in the lee of Goldstone Hill – known locally as the ‘Golden Garden Triangle’. There are 12 comfortable and contemporary bedrooms, a restaurant and an award winning, RHS partner garden.

The Gardens are mature, immaculate and intriguingly designed, including formal and informal planting, encapsulating the essence of a quintessential English garden. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful and productive Hotel Kitchen Garden with unique and enchanting herbal walkways, sheltered by copper beech hedging, and boasting more than 100 varieties of herbs. There are also cultivars of fruits such as espalier-trained apples and pears, vegetables and spices, which are trialled for their suitability to the Goldstone climate, plus nearby vibrant cutting-flower borders.

The gardens have been landscaped and cultivated around the great vistas and designed sensitively, to encourage biodiversity. The Goldstone haven includes a diverse and wide variety of flowering plants and trees, which have been chosen to complement the terroir as well as their individual qualities such as fragrance, colour and stature. Visitors can enjoy a Walled Garden with floriferous doubled-tiered herbaceous borders including plants such as Actinidia kolomiktaEpilobium angustifolium var. albumPhormium tenax, sedums, alliums, clematis and a bushy line of ballerina roses. There is also a romantic Rose Terrace overlooking the Walled Garden with a mix of varieties that continue to flower from May to November including Rosa ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, Rosa ‘Tickled Pink’, Rosa ‘Iceberg’ and Rosa ‘Silver Wedding’.

Garden Visitor Groups are welcome – please see website for further details. Open for the National Garden Scheme and a member of the Heritage Seed Library.

Wedding, events and special celebrations can also be held at Goldstone.

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
