Experience the traditional craft of blacksmithing in the heart of the Shropshire Hills with this hands-on beginner workshop at Acton Scott Heritage Farm.
Set within a historic farmyard forge, this small-group experience offers the rare opportunity to learn centuries-old blacksmithing techniques under the guidance of an experienced blacksmith. Using authentic tools and methods, you’ll heat, shape, and hammer steel to create your own handcrafted fire poker to take home.
What to Expect
With a maximum group size of three, the workshop is suitable for people aged 16 and over. Those aged 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult.
This hands on experience will include:
- Work with a real forge, anvil, and traditional tools
- All tools and materials are provided
- Learn core blacksmithing techniques step-by-step
- Receive personalised guidance (max 3 people per session)
- Create your own handcrafted fire poker to take home
- Enjoy a full day in the peaceful Shropshire countryside
- Leave with your own handmade fire poker and the skills behind how it was made.
You will also have the opportunity to look around Acton Scott Heritage Farm and enjoy our onsite Farm Cafe.
