The Official Tourism Website for Shropshire

The doors to Hawkstone Hall & Gardens have re-opened, in line with government guidance, with the addition of audio tours from the end of May, promising to be a fun and insightful experience for the whole family.

The tours have been provided by ATS-Heritage – creator of audio tours for Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey,

Highclere Castle and the National Portrait Gallery – the 45-minute guided audio tour will take in every
element of the magnificent 88-acre Shropshire estate centred around a beautiful Grade I listed 18th
century mansion, with a total of 20 stops. Guests will be enlightened of the Hall’s history dating back to
1701, with insights from the current owners and staff that have worked at the Hall over the years.
Residents of the 37-bedroom hotel or visitors to one of the two restaurants can enjoy the audio tour at
no extra cost, with pre-booking essential. Members of the public, including accompanied children, can
take part in the experience for £11.95 per person, which includes a tea/coffee/soft drink and cake
bites. This is the first time in the history of the property that the public will be offered an expert-guided
tour of one of Britain’s finest, privately-owned country estates.

Hawkstone Hall is nestled within the hills of the rolling Shropshire countryside and is a magnificent
Grade 1 listed estate. The 18th-century mansion is a breathtakingly beautiful hotel, wedding and
events venue, with a chiefly British restaurant serving afternoon tea and evening a la carte dining daily,
along with a delicious Sunday lunch menu.

A sophisticated home away from home for those looking for an escape, the magnificent estate features
37 bedrooms, two restaurants – The Saloon and Hills Kitchen – a gym and a number of decadent
indoor and outdoor spaces with picturesque views.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
