On Saturday 22 July 2023, Bishop’s Castle residents and visitors will be treated to a not-to-be-missed day of live music, stalls, activities, workshops, food and drink!

With a new look, new ticket-pricing structure, new food stalls and new and returning bands alike, Bishop’s Castle’s Party in the Park is the best value festival day out around.

Returning to the PitP stage after several years hiatus are local heroes, Nuclear Weasels, who’ll play just before town favourites Fight the Bear – both guaranteed to get the crowd going for the Wayne Martin Band and headliners, BC All Skas.

Opening the event are remarkable 12 and 13-year-old band, North, the incredible Lilith Pearson and unmissable duo Modified Youth from Bishop’s Castle youth Open Mic night, continuing the tradition of PitP supporting local young bands to have stage experience.

Red by Night, Meg Chandler, Without Warning, Amy Pugh and Break the Record complete the line-up for the stellar day.

“We’re really excited about the line-up”, said music programmer and Nuclear Weasels member Jake Putterill-Evans, “it’s going to be a great day of music right from the start, and we’re thrilled to have local young Open Mic as well as some of the original Party in the Park bands.”

Ticket pricing is different this year. “There were lots of requests last year for family tickets” said volunteer treasurer Louise Wilson “our costs have gone up significantly, as everything has for everyone, and we hope the structure we’ve debated and decided upon is helpful to everyone and it will allow the event to continue”.

Over 13’s and adults are £12; 8–12-year-olds £6; with 7 and under remaining free. A family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) will cost £30.

Party in the Park takes place on Saturday 22 July 2023 at Bishop’s Castle Playing Fields, SY9 5AU. Public entrances at Union Street and Corporation Street. Those coming from out of town can park at Harley Jenkins Street, Auction Yard or Bishops Castle Community College car-parks. The music kicks off at midday. Get there early to secure your spot! Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
