Visitors to the Ironbridge Gorge will be in for a treat throughout the Easter break as The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust lays on a series of fun family Easter themed events.

 

The Easter festivities begin on Saturday 1 April with a very special celebration day for Blists Hill’s 50th anniversary. Opening on the 1 April 1973 there’s been some changes over the years! It will be a day of entertainment, activities and lots of fun, with the bunting hung and music from the Wellington Brass Band. The theme for the day is a traditional Mop (or hiring) Fair and visitors can try their hand at different trades including Tile making, Laundry, China Flower Making, Printing, Candle Dipping and even Blacksmithing.

Throughout the Easter period visitors can come visit some of Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trusts fantastic sites each day, including Blists Hill Victorian Town, Museum of Iron, Enginuity, Jackfield Tile Musuem, Coalport China Museum, Museum of the Gorge, and The Ironbridge Tollhouse. The Tar Tunnel, Broseley Pipeworks and the Darby Houses will be open for a short period of time from Friday 7 April to Monday 10 April.

 

There are some egg-citing events being offered throughout the sites including a chocolate trail, chocolate wrapper printing, an egg dance, and the return of the Victorian Fairground. Come and join in for some Easter family fun!

 

All Wrapped Up! at Blists Hill Victorian Town Sunday 2 – Sunday 16 April. Chocolate advertising trail, with chocolate egg prize. One free activity voucher for each visitor over this period. Included in admission fee

 

Egg Dancing at Blists Hill Victorian Town. Friday 7 – Monday 10 April. See the Townsfolk dance blindfolded across hard-boiled eggs try not to break them. Visitors can have a go. Included in admission fee

 

Flying Eggs at Enginuity Sunday 2 – Sunday 16 April. Design & make a parachute to drop a chocolate egg without breaking it. £2 per parachute, free with PASS PLUS

 

Clay Drop-ins at Coalport China Museum. Saturday 1 – Sunday 16 April, 11am-3pm. Make your own clay creation, with airdrying clay to take home to paint. Included in admission fee

 

Tile Decorating Workshops at Jackfield Tile Museum Tuesday 4 – Thursday 6 April & Tuesday 11 – Friday 14 April. Decorate your own tile using the tubelining technique. From £10.95 per tile
