Childrens fused glass workshops

Playing with glass – safely! Fused glass picture tile workshops on Wednesday 1st November (half term).

Create a picture tile from pieces of lovely, coloured glass, it can be anything they imagine; from and bird to a boat, a mosaic to a ‘my pet’. The tiles will have a textured surface and they look lovely on a tiny easel or mini plate stand. They can be mounted into a deep picture frame or stuck (use strong double sided sticky pads) to a surface. Or I may be able to add a little hanging loop.

FAQs

Is the glass sharp?
It was; but I pre-fire all the special glass for these workshops so there are no sharp edges. It is suitable for youngsters and I call it fuzzy felt with glass.
What times are the workshops?
Four workshop times throughout the day. 10am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Allow up to an hour, though some children are ‘done’ in a jiffy.
What do mean by fused glass?
Fusing literally melts 2 pieces of glass together, it will never come apart!
Once finished, the tile has to be fused in the kiln (very hot) and will be ready to collect in a few days.
What if I can’t collect?
I’ll either keep the tile safe until you can collect. Or they can be posted, P&P is extra.
Can I leave my children with you?
Sorry, no! An adult must accompany the children.
Is there a minimum age?
Guide age is 7  to 70 years – younger is possible so call me to discuss.
Can I make a tile too?
Yes, I’ve had many adults do these workshops with and without children.
Do I need to book?
You are welcome to drop-in without booking, though to secure a place booking is advised as the maximum children per workshop 6.

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
